INTRO
Venmo is an incredibly easy and convenient way to transfer funds. We were tasked with designing a feature for Venmo that allows users to give charitably through the app. Our user research showed us that, even though Venmo users are, in general, inclined to give charitably, they are very motivated to give when asked to do so by a friend. We designed a feature for Venmo that enables users to invite their friends to match them in making a very small donation with eery payment request.

Brief
Venmo is an app that allows users to send payments to other users for free. They want to strengthen their brand by offering options for social impact.
Venmo makes it easy to send payments to other people through their app, but want to expand their services to make a difference in the world. With users accustomed to sending money quickly, Venmo would like to introduce a way for users to send money via their app to cause they care about.


Research
In the research phase of this project we focused on interviews. We started with a screener survey and culled four interviewees from it.

● Why do you use Venmo? What other features do you use?
● When did you last use Venmo? Can you walk me through how you used it?
● How did you first learn about Venmo?
● What do you use other payment app’s for?
● What info do you share on your social media accounts?
● What motivates you to share on social media?
● Do you tag/repost your friends in any posts?
● What are they usually of? Can you walk me through this?
● What are your thoughts on hashtag challenges?
● What does social consciousness mean to you?
● What types of activities do you consider as socially conscious?
● Can you walk me through the last time you donated or gave to a cause?
● What organizations have you donated to (time or money)? Why and how often?
● How do you donate? Can you walk me through how you gave?
● Is it important to see the results of your effortS?
● What causes are important to you and how did you find out about them?
● What factors come to play when deciding to contribute to a cause?
● How much research do you do on an organization/cause before you decided to contribute to their efforts?
● Tell me about a time when you were disappointed by your contributions?
● After deciding to contribute to a cause, do you share it out with your friends? How?
“If a friend asked through social media and it is a good cause, something I also care about then I would be more inclined to contribute”


SYNTHESIS
From raw research to synthesis: we took our interviews and synthesized them using affinity mapping. We THEN took THE INSIGHTS WE UNCOVERED and used them to construct a user persona.
